  • WCHS baseball team to host chili supper


    The Washington County High School baseball team will be hosting a chili supper on Feb. 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the WCHS cafeteria.

    Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children.
    The price of admission includes chili, peanut butter sandwiches, tea and desserts.
    Tickets can be purchased from baseball players or at the door the night of the chili supper.
    Three baskets will be auctioned off, including a University of Kentucky basket, a Washington County basket and a car care basket.

  • Turner joins the 500-point club


    A new member of the Washington County High School girls’ basketball 500-point club was initiated Friday, Jan. 28, during the second quarter of the Commanderettes’ game against Fort Knox.

    Sophomore Kenya Turner reached the milestone in the second quarter and finished with 26 points in a 49-31 win over the Lady Eagles.

  • Commanderettes, Lady Knights set to clash


    The Commanderettes will face possibly their toughest stretch of the season after returning from the Touchstone Energy All “A” Classic.

    Washington County will begin that stretch with a rematch against Marion County (13-5). Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at Washington County High School.
    In the last meeting, the Lady Knights beat the Commanderettes 74-38 at the Roby Dome in Lebanon.
    Things have changed since that early December meeting, however.

  • Lucky number seven


    The Commanderettes won their seventh consecutive game on Monday night against Bardstown.

    The win puts them in second place in the 19th District, with a chance for first place if they beat Nelson County and Nelson loses to Bardstown.

  • Commanders face Fifth Region talent


    Washington County will face two Fifth Region opponents and will have a rematch with North Bullitt this week as the regular season winds down.

    On Thursday, the Hart County Raiders (2-15) come to town for a duel with the Commanders.
    Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Washington County High School.
    “They’re having a tough year like we have,” Commanders head coach Russell Burkhead said.
    Several coaches Burkhead has spoken with have said Hart County was not to be underestimated.
