With the late corn planting, growers need to be watching their corn for fall armyworm feeding. With this insect it is important to catch infestations early as later stages of the insect are more difficult to control. While many fields have been planted to corn hybrids expressing Bt genes that provide partial to high levels of fall armyworm control, non-Bt corn planted in refuge fields should be monitored regularly.

Kimberly Ann and Joseph Dennis Knopp of Gravel Switch announce the birth of their son on June 19, 2011, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
Joseph Kaleb Knopp weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 21 inches in length.
He was welcomed home by a brother, Alex Knopp, age 4.
Maternal grandparents are Mary and Jeff Brady and Bobby Graves, all of Springfield.
Paternal grandparents are Donnie and Connie Knopp of Lebanon.

Perlina Anderkin of Mt. Vernon announces the forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Allison Perlina Anderkin, to Daniel Butler Carney, son of David and Nancy Carney of Springfield. Allison is also the daughter of the late James Anderkin Jr.
Anderkin is a 2004 graduate of Rockcastle County High School and a 2008 graduate of Transylvania University. In May of 2011, she graduated from the University of the Cumberlands with a Master of Arts in Teaching. She is employed as a teacher at North Washington Elementary. 

The Lincoln Men’s Golf Club recently held its annual Glow-ball tournament. 

A Glow-ball is a ball that glows in the dark.  They come in really handy when playing golf outside after the sun goes down.
The first nine holes were played late in the afternoon.  At the finish of the first nine holes, everyone took a break for hamburgers and hotdogs.  
When the sun finally set (9:45 p.m.), players went back to the course to finish the final nine holes.
The eventual winning score was 10-under par.
