The premise that 4-H was founded on over 100 years ago was to teach life skills to young people they could use throughout their lives and to be successful in their career choice.  One 4-H project that has achieved this goal is the 4-H Talk Meet program.

Over the next several weeks, the results from the Washington County 4-H Talk Meet program will be listed in the 4-H news.  The top speakers will be participating in the County-wide Talk Meet will be held Thursday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Building on the St. Catharine College campus.  The public is invited to attend.  Congratulations to each of these young people for a job well done.

4-H TALENT SHOW

The Washington County 4-H Talent Show was held Thursday, March 26, at the River of Life Community Church.  The Specialty Acts are performances that involve between one and four 4-H members in a four-minute performance.  This year winning champion in the junior vocal division was Katie Carney singing, “Our Song.”  Placing first in the senior vocals was Mary Kutter singing, “Heaven, Heartache and the Power of Love” and winning reserve champion was Tyler Adams and Brittany Wells singing Cowgirls Don’t Cry.  In the junior theatrical division winning champion was Hannah and Tommy Harmon performing to “Wipe Out.”

4-H clubs acts must involve at least five club members or 20 percent of the membership, whichever is the greatest. This year, the senior club act division was represented by the 4-H Young Riders winning champion with their act “Young Rider’s Wild West Show.”  Their club leader is Tana Wells.

The reserve champion in the club act category was the Fredericktown seventh and eighth grade Camo Clovers 4-H Club with their act, “Our Last Celebration.” Their club act leader was Lisa Nally and coordinating was the Fredericktown Family Resource Center director, Diana Edwards.

Champion acts will now advance to the Lincoln Trail Area 4-H Variety Show scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, 10:00 a.m. at the River of Life Community Church in Springfield.  The public is invited to attend the event.
