The 7-8 year-old coach pitch league officially came to an end with the intramural all-star game on July 10.

The Red Hounds, a combined team from the Red Legs and the Rock Hounds, faced a mix from the Golden Girls and the Scrappers, aptly named the Golden Scrappers.

The season ended with an exciting game that featured plenty of hits from both teams. The Red Hounds had several hits up the middle of the field, occasionally sending co-coach Tracy Graves scurrying out of the way.

The Red Hounds took a 5-2 lead into the second inning, but the Golden Scrappers answered with four runs in bottom of the second. The Red Hounds countered with five runs in the top of the third. It was a see-saw battle inning-by-inning.

At the end of the fourth, the Golden Scrappers had scored a total of 13 runs, highlighted by a two-run inside-the-park home run by Madison White. Although they were behind 13-10, the Red Hounds would not go quietly.

The Red Hounds exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning and held an 18-13 advantage over the Golden Scrappers scoreless going into the sixth.

But the Golden Scrappers still had some hitting to do, and that they did, scoring five runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie the score and send the game into extra innings.

The Red Hounds dug in deep and put five runs on the board in the extra frame, needing three outs for the win.

Although they fought back to tie the game in the sixth, the Golden Scrappers could not plate a single runner in the seventh, giving the Red Hounds a 23-18 victory.
