WCMS Dropoff
Washington County Middle School doors will not open until 7:30 a.m. for the 2013-14 school year. Please do not drop your children off before this time.  Students will not be permitted to enter the building until 7:30 a.m.

Willisburg Flag
Plans are in action to set a 60-foot pole and large American flag at Willisburg Lake. Donations can be made in memory of a loved one or friend.

Volunteers Needed

Free Books

Free library books at Willisburg City Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be adult and children’s books.

Budgeting Workshop

The House of Hope will be offering a budgeting workshop on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. for the 2013 Holiday Assistance Program.

Adult Book Discussion Group
There will be an adult discussion group on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. at the Washington County Public Library. Discuss “Below Stairs” by Margaret Powell. Pick up your book at the library. For more information call 336-7655.

Lifeguard Training
McDowell Wellness Center is offering lifeguard training beginning Aug. 9.  The training will take place over six days. The dates are Aug. 9 (5-9 p.m.), Aug. 10 (8 a.m.–6 p.m.), Aug. 11 (1–7 p.m.), Aug. 23 (5–9 p.m.), Aug. 24 (8 a.m.–6 p.m.), and Aug. 25 (8 a.m.– noon). BPW Scholarship
The Springfield BPW will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a non-traditional female student who is a resident of Washington County and over the age of 25. Mackville School Homecoming
The Mackville School Homecoming and Seventh Annual Hall of Fame Induction will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 at the Mackville Community Center.

NCHS Fundraiser
Karen Knotts, daughter of Don Knotts, will perform her “Tied up in Knotts” Show at Nelson County High School Auditorium in Bardstown on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at brownpapertickets.com/event/404663 and at the door. The “Kentucky Wheelers” will do preshow and open the show with the “Mountain Style” old time country music. Ticket sales benefit the Nelson County High School Band.
