Barbara Lou Carrico Kelty, age 75, of East Virginia Avenue, Springfield, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 at St. Joseph Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Born Oct. 15, 1936 in Washington County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Adrain and Mary Elsie Hamilton Carrico; her husband, Ernest Russell Kelty; two brothers, Frankie and Ritchie (Killer) Carrico; four sisters, Mildred Carrico, Diane Hutchins, Judy Wray and Jeanette Noel; and a granddaughter, Alyssa Kelty.
She was a former employee of Cowden Manufacturing Company in Springfield, a lunchroom worker at St. Dominic School for many years, had worked at Washington County Head Start and Washington County Workshop and was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons; Ernie (Missy) Kelty Jr. of Harrodsburg and Todd (Roxie) Kelty of Springfield; a daughter, Penny (Tim) Hagan of Lexington; two brothers, Donnie (Darlene) Carrico of Springfield and Doug (Anne) Carrico of Bardstown; four sisters, Bonnie (Sonny) Taylor of Taylorsville, Julie (Tommy) Noel and Carolyn Carrico, all of Springfield and Claudine Noel of Mackville; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Culpepper Elliott officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kyle Hagan, Brian and Jared Kelty and Frankie, Jeff and Brad Carrico.
Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield was in charge of arrangements.
