The Barn Quilt Committee has painted two additional quilts that have been installed on barns in the county.  One quilt, the “Double Arrow,” is on a barn belonging to Hamilton and Elaine Simms.  This quilt can be seen from Hwy. 555.  The other quilt, the “Lone Star,” is at the Riggs farm on Lincoln Park Road.  They are both beautiful and worth a drive to check them out.

Extension homemakers are ready to resume their monthly club meetings after a summer recess.    The first leader lesson training will be held Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Nelson County Extension Office.  The lesson will be “Travel the Kentucky Quilt Trail”.  Since we have our own county quilt trail, it will be interesting to see what other counties are doing.

All members and prospective members are invited to the Salad and Dessert Supper, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Washington Co. Extension Office.  Bring your favorite salad or dessert and join us.

“Just Sew You Know – News”  The Master Volunteers in Clothing Construction are back into action after the summer vacations and eager to teach new sessions of sewing; not only sewing for yourselves but for your family too.  Sewing is relaxing; even for just a few moments a day…taking away stresses and strain!  So come one, don’t be left out.

Our sewing class will be Wednesday, Sept. 9  beginning at 10 a.m. and finish around noon.  We meet at the Washington Co. Extension Office.  This month you will learn how to take body measurements and make any clothing alterations needed on the sewing machine.

Person attending should bring clothes that need altering, a sewing machine and matching threads, tape measure, pins, scissors and general sewing items.  You may also finish your project at home at your leisure.  Sewing machines are available but call and reserve one.

The sewing class is open to the general public at no charge.  Every second Wednesday of each month the sewing class will have a new feature.  Some of the upcoming trainings will feature serging, making a pencil slim skirt, two-way stretch top and lined purse.

There will be no October class but will resume in November.  For more information call Marion Mulligan 336-0807 and Rita Yates 336-0153.
