The city of Springfield’s Main Street/Renaissance Program was awarded two significant awards at the Kentucky Main Street awards ceremony in Frankfort on Jan. 25.

Springfield and building owners Ed and Kris O’Daniel received the Best of Design 2012 Award for the O’Daniel’s recent renovation of the historic Louisville Store Building in downtown Springfield.
The city also received the Outstanding Main Street Partner 2012 Award for the partnership between Springfield and St. Catharine College on the annual Holiday Festival held in Marion and Washington counties.
Springfield Mayor Dr. John W. Cecconi, Main Street/Renaissance chairman Laurie Smith and program director Nell Haydon received the awards on behalf of the city.
“I am very proud of the efforts of Springfield’s Main Street/Renaissance Committee, in their continued success in preserving and revitalizing our historic downtown corridor,” Cecconi said.
