The Washington County Commanders earned their first win of the season Friday night with a 48-24 defeat of Lincoln County in Stanford.

The Commanders got on the board first with a touchdown run by senior back Tyree Railey. It didn't take long for the Patriots to answer as they found the end zone on their next possession to knot the score at 7-7. Halfway through the first quarter, Lincoln County added a field goal to take a 10-7 lead head into the second quarter.

The Pats scored with 9:23 left in the first half and led 17-7 at the halfway mark.

Lincoln County got possession of the ball at the start of the third quarter and used half of the quarter to drive down the field for another TD to take a 24-7 lead. The Commanders never gave up and fought back from a 17-point deficit to score 17 points in the third and tacking on another 24 points in the fourth for a total of 41 unanswered points. After 48 minutes of play, WC left Stanford with their first win of 2009.

With the Commander win and the Patriot loss, both teams now stand at 1-3 on the year.
