County ends fiscal year with budget surplus

Washington County will have a carryover of $287,569.73 from the 2010-11 fiscal year budget.
During the regular scheduled meeting this week, the Washington County fiscal court voted to amend the budget to allow for the carryover into the 2011-12 fiscal year budget.
The county brought in nearly $10,000 more than anticipated in real property taxes, and roughly $42,000 more than anticipated in occupational tax fees.
The county began the 2011-12 fiscal year with a budget of over $5.6 million.
