With the light frost and colder weather of late, it is time to bring tender bulbs indoors for winter. Tender bulbs include such things as elephant ear, caladium, cannas, dahlia, and calla lily among several others. Tender bulbs aren’t usually hardy, meaning freezes will kill them. Some years they survive our winters. However, to insure their survival, dig them and bring them indoors. If you have cannas, for instance, that come back year after year, it is probably because they are in a well protected place and in very well draining soil.
