Nominees sought for screening committee in new super search

By Geoff Hamill

Less than a year after the Washington County School Board hired a new superintendent, the search is about to begin again. And this time, just like the last time, a familiar face will fill the vacant seat temporarily.

Ronald “Sonny” Fentress, who was named interim superintendent in early 2008 to replace retiring superintendent Larry Graves, has again been named interim superintendent. Fentress, a resident of Anderson County, is currently serving as interim superintendent of Mercer County schools. Mercer County has named a new superintendent, and Fentress wraps up his time in that school system on June 30. He will begin in Washington County the following day, July 1, and will serve until a permanent superintendent is hired.
