A two-vehicle accident in Washington County has left two people dead.
Barbara Walker, 72, of Harrodsburg, and her husband, Martin Walker III, 72, also of Harrodsburg, both died after a collision on US 150 about six miles outside Springfield Saturday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The accident occurred when Cortney Jones, 19, of Bardstown, was traveling west on KY 150 in a 1992 Chevrolet when she veered into the eastbound lane and struck a 1992 Mazda, driven by Barbara Walker, according to Kentucky State Police. Barbara Walker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Washington County Coroner. Her husband, Martin Walker III, was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital where he was later pronounced dead by a member of the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
Kayla Ruley, 14, of Lebanon, was a passenger in the Jones vehicle, and was airlifted to Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville. Jones was transported to Flaget Hospital in Bardstown.
KSP Trooper Brian Coyt is investigating the accident, and is being assisted by Trooper Fred Cornett and Sgt. Mike Rogers. Washington County EMS, Washington County Fire and Washington County Rescue responded, along with assistance from the Nelson County EMS.
Ruley was listed in fair condition at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville Monday morning. No information was available on the condition of Jones at Flaget Memorial Hospital.
