Kelly resigns as Senate Majority Floor Leader

Sen. Dan Kelly, R-Springfield, has resigned his position as Majority Floor Leader, according to a statement issued by Lourdes Baez-Schrader, communications director for the Senate Majority.

According to the statement, elections will take place tomorrow to fill the position.

"I have received various inquiries… Majority Floor Leader elections have been slated for Friday, Oct. 23 as Sen. Dan Kelly has resigned his position as floor leader effective upon his application for the appointment to the 11th Judicial Circuit."

Kelly has not resigned his Senate seat, according to Baez-Schrader.

Kelly was not immediately available for comment.
