NWES Kindergarten Registration
North Washington Elementary will have Kindergarten registration Friday, Feb. 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. You may bring Social Security cards and birth certificates at this time.
WCES Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for Washington County Elementary School for 2012-13 school year will be held Friday, Feb. 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school commons.
Saturday, Feb. 18
Violin Recital
The Advanced Class of the Boaz Performance Academy and Select Music Students of Bellarmine University will perform a Violin Recital Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. at the Sisters of Loretto Mother House. Selections will include works by Sarasate, Wieniawski and Vivaldi.
Sunday, Feb. 19
Mt. Olivet Movie
Mt. Olivet Baptist Church at 1403 Tatham Springs Rd, Willisburg will be showing the movie “Courageous” on Sunday, Feb. 19. There will be a light supper of finger foods at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall, followed by the movie in the sanctuary. There is no admission and everyone is invited to attend.
Blood Drive
The American Red Cross will hold a Blood Drive at Holy Trinity Church, Fredericktown on Sunday, Feb. 19, from 7:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. in the church basement.
To donate blood, one must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and not have donated blood in the past 56 days. Double Red Cell donors must wait 112 days between donations. Please bring your donor card from previous donations or other positive identification when you come to donate blood.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. to elect officers for 2012 and for the final plat approval of “Kates Crossing” plat located in Rosary Heights as submitted by Wesley Smith and the plat for HRD, LLC property located on Depot Street as submitted by Joe Pat Haydon.

Historical Society Meeting
The February meeting of the Washington County Historical Society will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Opera House meeting room on the first floor, at 7 p.m.
A program describing the new Lincoln Museum that will be located in the 1816 courthouse, will be presented by Judge John Settles and John Downs, consultant for the project.
The Lincoln Museum will focus on the family history of the Lincoln family and Washington County connections back through the migration from Virginia.
The public is welcome, especially students and teachers interested in local history.

2013 DYW Meeting
Plans are underway for the 2013 Distinguished Young Women of Washington County Program (formerly Washington County Junior Miss).
A mandatory informational meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, in the WCHS library for all potential participants and a parent.
Any young lady who is currently a junior in high school, lives in Washington County, and will graduate in 2013 is invited to participate in the program.
This message is for those girls who attend WCHS, as well as those who live in Washington County but attend a different high school outside of Washington County.

KC Lenten Fish Fry
The Springfield Knights of Columbus Council 4270 will hold their annual Lenten Fish Fries starting Friday, Feb. 24 and running each Friday for seven weeks during Lent. Menu includes Alaskan Pollack Fish, potato wedges, hush puppies, cold slaw, cornbread and bean soup serving both dine-in and drive through from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Chili Supper and Bunco
The Hummingbirds Relay for Life Team will hold a chili supper and bunco on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 5-7 p.m. at the VFW Post in Lebanon. All proceeds go to Relay for Life. For questions or more information call Kathy Rogers at 502-507-3183.

Relay for Life Fundraiser
Karen’s Crusaders will hold its second annual Concert for Hope on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Opera House. The concert will feature local talent and is being organized by Mary Kutter. Tickets can be purchased at the Opera Hous and Greg Goatley’s law office. Flyers have been posted in various local businesses with details of the concert and a complete list of performers. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the America Cancer Society.

Pancake Breakfast
There will be a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 11 at St. Dominic Parish Community Center/Gym. All proceeds go to St. Dominic Athletics Department.

“Tasting Bash”
My New Kentucky Home Habitat for Humanity “Tasting Bash” will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Great Hall at My Old Kentucky Home State Park.
