Chamber of Commerce banquet
The Springfield-Washington County Chamber of Commerce annual membership and awards banquet will take place on Thursday, Feb. 23.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. at Mordecai’s on Main in Springfield.  
During the banquet, awards will be presented for Citizen of the Year, Agricultural Leader of the Year, Youth Leader of the Year, Agricultural Achievement, Lifetime Achievement and Sidewalk of Fame.

2013 DYW Meeting
Plans are underway for the 2013 Distinguished Young Women of Washington County Program (formerly Washington County Junior Miss).
A mandatory informational meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. for Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, in the WCHS library for all potential participants and a parent.
Any young lady who is currently a junior in high school, lives in Washington County, and will graduate in 2013 is invited to participate in the program.
This message is for those girls who attend WCHS, as well as those who live in Washington County but attend a different high school outside of Washington County.

Project Graduation Meeting
A Washington County High School Project Graduation planning committee meeting will be held Thursday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Washington County High School Library/Media Center. All junior and senior parents are encouraged to attend. Also, a Project Graduation Raffle for a $250 gas card will be held during the month of March. Springfield Nursing & Rehab
Come celebrate a deficiency free survey at the Springfield Nursing & Rehab Center Thursday, Feb. 23, from 2-4 p.m. Enter to win a gift card and other door prizes. Refreshments will be served.

Friday, Feb. 24

KC Lenten Fish Fry
The Springfield Knights of Columbus Council 4270 will hold their annual Lenten Fish Fries starting Friday, Feb. 24 and running each Friday for seven weeks during Lent. Menu includes Alaskan Pollack Fish, potato wedges, hush puppies, cole slaw, cornbread and bean soup serving both dine in and drive through from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Proceeds go to K of C charities.

Saturday, Feb. 25

Concealed Carry Class
A concealed carry class will be held Saturday, Feb 25 at 9 a.m. until completion. This class is offered by The Dept of Criminal Justice Training. For more information and class availabilty, call 859-332-7728 or 859-583-5716. Jimmy Elliott is the instructor.

Gospel Sing
There will be a gospel sing at Cumbo’s Old Gospel Barn, 11286 Louisville Road, Cox’s Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25. Music by Heavenly Reign and The Cumbo’s. Free admission and everyone is welcome.

Chili Supper and Bunco
The Hummingbirds Relay for Life Team will hold a chili supper and bunco on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 5-7 p.m. at the VFW Post in Lebanon. All proceeds go to Relay for Life. For questions or more information call Kathy Rogers at 502-507-3183.

Sunday, Feb. 26

Relay for Life fundraiser
Karen’s Crusaders will hold its second annual Concert for Hope on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Opera House. The concert will feature local talent and is being organized by Mary Kutter. Tickets can be purchased at the Opera House and Greg Goatley’s law office. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the America Cancer Society.

Monday, Feb. 27

The Washington County Homemakers are hosting a sew-a-thon on Feb. 27 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Washington County Cooperative Extension office. The goal of the sew-a-thon is to make dresses for children in Haiti.
The public is invited to attend or drop by for any amount of time to help out. The Homemakers are also seeking donations of cotton fabric for the dresses.

Red Cross
The Red Cross will host a blood drive at St. Dominic School on March 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information.
All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.

Pancake Breakfast
There will be a pancake breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 11 at St. Dominic Parish Community Center/Gym. All proceeds go to St. Dominic Athletics Department.

“Tasting Bash”

My New Kentucky Home Habitat for Humanity “Tasting Bash” will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Great Hall at My Old Kentucky Home State Park. Tickets can be purchased at all Nelson County Town & Country Banking Centers or you may contact Patsy Coomes at (502)348-9062, Brenda Donahue at (502) 510-1616 or Theresa Hurst at (502) 337-6254. Tickets will also be sold at the door the night of the event.

The Washington County Elementary School Site Based Decision Making meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19 in the media center.
