Ongoing events
Free Tree Seedlings
The Washington County Conservation District has free tree seedlings available to the public. Species available are hazelnut, mulberry, yellow poplar, hickory, white pine, pin oak, and black walnut. There is a limit of nine per person.

Mt. Zion Cemetery Maintenance
Christine Hill is now accepting donations for the maintenance of Mt. Zion cemetery. Donations can be sent to her at 4067 Mt. Zion Road, Willisburg, Ky. 40078.

St. Dominic Raffle
St. Dominic School is selling raffle tickets for a $10,000 Super Raffle. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any school parent or at the school office. Proceeds go to the St. Dominic science lab construction project.

Thursday, April 5
Job Fair
Lincoln Trail Career Centers and Youth Services Centers will host a youth job fair on Thursday, April 5 at John Hardin High School (JHHS) Commons, located at 384 W.A. Jenkins Road. The job fair will run from 4-6 p.m., and young people, ages 16 to 21, are invited to attend.  

Maundy Thursday
A worship service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Maunday Thursday, April 5 at the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 5 miles north of Springfield off Route 555, on Pleasant Grove Loop. For more information, contact Rev. David Johnson at (502) 473-8435.

Holy Week Services
The schedule for Holy Week Services at St. Catharine Motherhouse is as follows: April 5, Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord’s Supper, 7 p.m. in Magdalen Chapel; April 6, Good Friday Celebration of the Passover, 3 p.m. at Sansbury Chapel; April 7, Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil Liturgy, 7 p.m. in Magdalen Chapel. Refreshments will be served following the Easter Liturgy.

Friday, April 6
Relay for Life
Karen’s Crusaders Relay for Life team will have a bake sale on Friday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the O’Daniel Building (the old Louisville Store). All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

WC PVA Office
The Washington County PVA Office will be closing Friday, April 6 at noon in observance of Good Friday.

Good Friday Closing
Washington County Circuit Clerk’s office will be closed at 12 noon on Friday, April 6 for Good Friday.

Saturday, April 7
Easter Egg Hunt
There will be an Easter Egg Hunt at Springfield Christian Church on Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m. There will be facepainting, corn hole and crafts for the kids.  

Bake Sale
The Fishing for a Cure Relay For Life team is having a bake sale in front of IGA on Saturday, April 7, from 8-?.

Bake Sale
The Washington County Commanderette Volleyball team will be hosting a bake sale on Saturday, April 7 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at IGA. This is a perfect opportunity to get your homemade baked goods for Easter. Proceeds go directly to the volleyball team.
Monday, April 9
Blood Drive
The next regular visit of the American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be on Monday, April 9, from 12 Noon until 5 p.m. in the Family Activity Center at the Springfield Baptist Church. Donors will have the opportunity to designate that their pint of blood given in honor or memory of someone who has either received blood or will be needing blood in the near future. Approximately every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, and the only source of that blood is from donors.

Wednesday, April 11
Water Commission Meeting
The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 11 at the water office. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m.

Monday, April 16
The Washington County Elementary School Site Based Decision Making  council meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 16 in the Media Center.

Tuesday, April 17
Holiday Assistance Classes
The House of Hope will be offering their Parenting Series, Homes of Honor, beginning Tuesday, April 17, at 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in their offices at 116 S. Cross Main Street, Springfield. You must attend all eight sessions to qualify for the HAP required hours. Please pre-register by calling the House of Hope at 859-336-0140 or picking up a registration form from your Child’s local FRYSC Coordinator. No child care will be provided.

Faithful Citizenship Luncheon
“Immigration Issues: Out of the Shadows” is the topic of the Faithful Citizenship Luncheon to be held Noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in Flaget Hall at the Basilica of St Joseph Proto-Cathedral, 5th and W Stephen Foster in Bardstown. Tractor Pull
Mackville Community Development and the Mackville Lions Club will be hosting a tractor pull on Saturday, April 21 at the Mackville Community Center. The pull will start at 5 p.m. with weigh-in at 4 p.m. Concessions will be available. For more information contact Eddie at 481-3420.

Managing Your Meals will be held Monday, April 23 at the Nelson County Civic Center (use the back entrance).
