Free Wildlife Food Mixture
The Washington County Conservation District is giving away wildlife food plot mixture on a first come basis. The mixture consists of sunflowers, millet, soybean and sorghum. The mixture is good for one-half acre plots. There is a limit of two per person. To pick up Wildlife Plot mix please stop by the office at 461 Lincoln Drive or call 859-336-7777 for more information.

Planning for African American Heritage Festival
A planning session for the 2012 African American Heritage Festival will be held on Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m. in the conference room at the Springfield Opera House. This is an organizational meeting for the festival to be held on Friday, Aug. 3 featuring The Jimmy Church Band. For more information, call 859-336-5412, ext. 2. Fishing for a Cure Relay Team will have a yard sale on Friday, May 25 and Saturday, May 26 at 1473 Jimtown Road from 8-? All proceeds go to Relay for Life.

Willisburg Memorial Homecoming Celebration will be held Saturday, May 26. Come and join in the fun. Games for the whole family.
Concealed Carry Class
A Concealed Carry Class will be Saturday, May 26 from 9 a.m. until completion. The class is offered by the Dept. of Criminal Justice Training. For more information call 859-332-7728 or 859-583-5716. Jimmy Elliott is the instructor.
There will be a gospel sing at Cumbo’s Old Gospel Barn, 11286 Louisville Road, Cox’s Creek on Saturday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. Music will be The Samaritans, The Sheltons and the Cumbo’s. Free admission and everyone is welcome.
Car Cleaning Fundraiser
There will be a car cleaning fundraiser in front of Cornerstone Christian Church, Save-A-Lot and Springfield Supply from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 26. Donations will go to summer camp programs. Baked goods and fresh grilled/smoked sandwiches will be for sale.
Red Cross CPR Class
The Nelson County Red Cross will be offering a CPR class for the Professional Rescuer on Saturday, May 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nelson County Library. This class will provide state of the art instructions in CPR and AED for those that have a duty to respond to emergencies. Memorial Day Services
The Battle Cemetery will be holding Decoration Day on Sunday afternoon, May 27. Mark Moore, Darrel Baker, and Robert Baker will be accepting donations for the upkeep of the cemetery.
A Memorial Day Service will be held Sunday, May 27, at 2 p.m. at Peter Cemetery at Mackville.
Campground Methodist Church
Everyone is invited to a brief Memorial Day Service at Campground Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 27.

The Garden Club of Danville celebrates “Danville in Bloom” at the Community Arts Center, 401 W. Main St., Danville on Friday, June 1 from 1-6 p.m. and Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

The DAR Chapters of the Frankfort area are having a genealogy workshop on Saturday, June 2, to be held at the KY History Center, 100 W. Broadway, Frankfort. Genealogists from the chapters will be available from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 p..m to 3 p.m. (lunch on your own) to help with tracing your genealogy and/or filling out applications for admission to DAR or other lineage societies. This is open to the public (men and women). Please bring a laptop, if you have one, and a flash drive.

The Newton-Greenwell Family Reunion, held every two years, is coming Sunday, June 3 at Holy Rosary Community Hall, Manton, KY. It will begin about 10 a.m. and a pot luck meal will be served about noon.

“Son of Fun” VBS

Boone’s Horse Ride Benefit
