African American Heritage Festival
Springfield’s eighth-annual African American Heritage Festival’s theme this year is “Family Affair.”
Families are encouraged to bring poster-board- sized exhibits on family histories and genealogy to the Springfield Opera House two weeks prior to the Aug. 3 festival.
This year’s evening festival will include the Jimmy Church Band, fireworks and preview of the new Lincoln Legacy Museum in 1816 Courthouse in downtown Springfield.

Parkinson’s Support Group
Special summer meetings (June-July-Aug) are held at restaurants for social time.
This month on July 18 (today), we will meet at Cheddars, 3400 Dixie Hwy, Elizabethtown at 1 p.m.
Regular meetings will resume in Sept. on the third Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. in the Nelson County Public Library community room.

St. Dominic School
All sixth-grade students must have a completed physical and an updated immunization certificate for the 2012-2013 school year.
All new students (students for the first time entering St. Dominic School) must have a physical, eye exam and a copy of their immunization certificate either mailed or brought to the school.
This information is required by the Archdioceses of Louisville. Contact the school office at 859-336-7165 if you have any questions.

LTADD board meeting
The Lincoln Trail Area Development District Board of Directors will meet on Wednesday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Trail ADD office in Elizabethtown.
Items on the agenda include committee reports from the aging advisory council, water management planning council, regional economic development council and the area development fund project.

Wrestling Match
The Mackville Community Center, in partnership with Prime Time Wrestling, will be hosting a wrestling match on Friday, July 20.
Show time is 8 p.m., doors open at 7 p.m. Concessions will be available. Family friendly for all ages.

VBS Willisburg Christian Church
Willisburg Christian Church will have vacation Bible School July 23-27 from 6:30-9 p.m.

Gospel sing
Gospel sing at Cumbos Old Gospel Barn, located at 11286 Louisville Road in Cox’s Creek, Ky., at 7:30 p.m. on July 28.

WCHS Registration
Washington County High School 2012-13 registration will be held on the following dates in the high school gym.
Seniors – Thursday, Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. – noon
Juniors – Thursday, Aug. 2 from 1-4 p.m.
Sophomores – Friday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. – noon
Freshmen – Friday, Aug. 3 from 1-4 p.m.
Please be prepared to complete registration forms, pay school, college and AP fees, and take school pictures following school dress code at this time.
Freshman open house will be Monday, Aug. 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the high school gym.
