Registration Forms

The Springfield-Washington County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting registration forms for the Kentucky Crossroads Harvest Festival parade, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. If you would like to submit an entry for the parade, please contact the Chamber of Commerce office at 859-336-3810 ext. 1 or Nicole Myers at 859-481-2182.

Wednesday, Sept. 26
Health Fair

St. Catharine College, in partnership with the St. Catharine Motherhouse and Sansbury Care Center, will present its annual health fair Wednesday, Sept. 26. The public is invited. The fair will take place in Lourdes Gym on the SCC campus from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fiscal Court Meeting
The Washington County Fiscal Court’s meeting originally scheduled for Friday, Sept. 28 has been changed to Wednesday, Sept. 26. The time and location of the meeting is still the same. If you have any questions, please call Judge Settles office.

Friday, Sept. 28
Mattingly and Spalding Reunion

Mattingly and Spalding Annual Family Reunion will be held Friday, Sept. 28-29 at Floral Hall, Fairground Road, Lebanon. Friday night events and fish fry at 6 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 30 the family picnic will be held at the Homeland (greenhouse), 237 South Woodlawn Avenue, Lebanon. Events start at 2 p.m., cookout at 3 p.m. Cancelled if rain. Family and friends welcome.

Saturday, Sept. 29
Cooking Class

Chef Eric Black will present another hands-on cooking class on Saturday, Sept. 29, 10 a.m. to noon at the Mackville Community Center. There will be a limited number of students. For more information and to register for the class, call Nancy by Thursday, Sept. 27 at 859-336-7726.

Sunday, Sept. 30
Thompsonville Baptist Homecoming

Thompsonville Baptist Church will hold its homecoming on Sunday, Sept. 30 with former pastor, Bro. Gilbert Robinson, preaching the morning service at 11 a.m. That day will also be our present pastor, Bro. Will Brooks’ last Sunday. There will be a noon potluck meal with meat, bread and drinks furnished. All are welcome to attend.

BPW Accepting Nominations

In order to celebrate outstanding accomplishments by Springfield/Washington County business professionals, Springfield BPW is accepting nominations for 2012 Woman of Achievement and Boss of the Year. Nomination forms may be picked up at Hardin’s Jewelry or City Hall or by calling 859-336-5440.  Nominations are due by Oct. 5 and should be submitted to Springfield BPW, c/o Laurie Smith, 127 W. Main, Springfield, KY 40069. An awards breakfast will be held at City Hall on Oct. 25 from 8:30-10:30 a.m.to honor the 2012 recipients.

WC Fair

The Washington County Fair will be held Oct. 5-7 at the Senior Citizens Center. Some of the new classes are Ugly Lamps (born or made ugly), Doll and Toy Farm Scapes contest, honey and spinning yarn classes, plus the regular classes.

Oct. 6-7
Mid-Kentucky Chorus

In conjunction with the traveling Smithsonian Exhibit, New Harmonies, Mid-Kentucky Chorus, under the direction of Teresa Tedder, will perform a special cantata honoring President Lincoln on Saturday, Oct. 6, at St. James Church in Elizabethtown at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7 at St. Augustine Church, Lebanon at 3 p.m. Reserved seating is available. Blood Drive

The regular visit of the American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be at the Family Activity Center at Springfield Baptist Church on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, from noon until 5 p.m. All regular donors, as well as first time donors, are encouraged to come give.

Thursday, Oct. 11
Test Results

How well do you understand your child’s state testing results? On Thursday, Oct. 11, learn about Kentucky’s new accountability model: Unbridled Learning at 6:30 p.m. in the Washington County High School gym. There will be free food, incentives, and gift cards to be given away.Child care provided.

Friday, Oct. 19
Drivers Licenses

There will be no drivers license tests given on Friday, Oct. 19.

Saturday, Oct. 20
Class Reunion

Class of 1997/1998 will be holding a combined 15-year reunion on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at Mordecai’s in Springfield at 7 p.m.

St. Rose Turkey Dinner

St. Rose Church Turkey Dinner Social will be held Saturday, Oct. 27 from 4-7:30 p.m.
