Absentee Voting
The Washington County Clerks office will be ready for absentee voting on October 12 for anyone who will be out of the county from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on November 8.

Adoption Support for Kentucky
An Adoption Support for Kentucky meeting will be held Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at 916 N. Mulberry Street, Elizabethtown and Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. for support and training. Saturday, Oct. 15
4-H Young Riders
The Washington County 4-H Young Riders Halloween Fun Horse Show will be held on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Willisburg Community Park. The show will begin at 3 p.m. Rain cancels. For more information call Tana Wells at (859) 481-4545.

Classic Car Cruise-In
The Washington County High School girls’ basketball team will be having a Classic Car Cruise-In on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 3-7 p.m. at Idle Hour Park in Springfield. If it rains, it will be held Sunday, Oct. 16. If it rains on Sunday, then it will be cancelled. Proceeds go to the WCHS girls’ basketball team.

Holy Rosary Church Manton Chili Supper
A chili supper and fall festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at Holy Rosary Church, Manton. Dinner will be served from 4-8 p.m. with Mass at 4 p.m.

Contemplative Prayer Day
The monthly Contemplative Prayer Day at St. Catharine Motherhouse will be on Oct. 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We have several sessions of  centering prayer with meditative walks, time for personal prayer, a presentation on Spiritual Practice in Ecological Context: The Art of Natural Perception (A Way to See Deeper) by Matt Branstetter, a professor in the St. Catharine College Theology Department. Benham Family Horseride

The Benham Family Horseride will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 in loving memory of the Benham family: Freddy K. Benham 2007, Nancy E. Lewis Benham 2008 and Fred Benham 2011. There will be a hayride to the river and back after lunch. All proceeds will be donated to Crusade for Children. Payday Loan Debt
“Ending the Payday Loan Debt Trap” is the Faithful Citizenship Luncheon topic Tuesday, Oct. 18, from noon–1 p.m. in Maloney Room of Flaget Hall of  the Basilica of  St Joseph Proto-Cathedral, 5th and W. Stephen Foster Blvd. in Bardstown. Jason Hall, our new Catholic Conference of Kentucky policy analyst, will be the presenter. Participants are asked to bring a brown bag lunch. Mackville Post Office Meeting
A meeting will be held at the Mackville Community Center on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. concerning the Mackville Post Office. Everyone is encouraged to attend this important meeting in support of our local post office.

Library Board Meeting
The October library board meeting will be held at the firehouse in Willisburg at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20. The public is invited to comment on the proposed new library project.

Saturday, Oct. 22
Holy Rosary Fall Festival
Holy Rosary Church, Springfield will have its Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 3-8 p.m. on the church grounds. Corn hole tournament sign in at 1 p.m., games start at 2 p.m. Many booths for young and old: sweet booth, pull tabs, create a jar, etc. Dinner from 3-8 p.m. and will consist of fried chicken or fried fish, with brown beans and cornbread and desert. Chili Supper and Benefit Auction

There will be a chili supper and benefit auction at the River of Life Church, Springfield on Saturday, Oct. 28 for the family of Chris Kuchenbrod, who passed away suddenly on July 28 at age 38, leaving his wife, Regina, and son, Christian. The chili supper will be at 3 p.m. The auction will be held at 5 p.m. It will include antiques, UK football tickets and many other items. Walk Like MADD
MADD Nelson County is hosting the first ever Walk Like MADD 5K walk in Bardstown. It will start at Spalding Hall and will continue around the historic streets and sites in Bardstown. The walk is Saturday, Oct. 22. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m. MADD’s mission is to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
