Habitat for Humanity Application

Habitat for Humanity application brochures for the 2013 Washington County Build are available in the following locations: Springfield State Bank, BB&T Bank, City Hall, The Springfield Sun, St. Vincent DePaul, library, Community Action, Housing Authority of Springfield, or any Habitat board member. Christmas Toy Collection
Cash Express will be collecting toys, canned food and coats for the underprivileged. Cash Express has teamed up with River of Life Church to distribute these items. Anyone in need of help can contact Bernadette Mattingly (859) 336-5422. Drop off locations are The Springfield Sun, Save-A-Lot, Chamber of Commerce, US Bank, Kentucky Supply or Springfield Treasure Shoppe. Thanksgiving Closing

The Washington County Clerk’s Office will be closed Nov. 22 and 23 for Thanksgiving.

Electrical Inspector

Washington County Electrical Inspector, Arthur Elliott, will NOT be doing any inspections in Washington County on Friday, Nov. 23.  

Saturday, Nov. 24
Gospel Sing

There will be a gospel sing at Cumbo’s Old Gospel Barn, 11286 Louisville Road, Cox’s Creek at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24. Music by The Blessed Duet and The Cumbo’s. Free admission and everyone is welcome.

Concealed Carry Class
A concealed carry class will be Saturday, Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. until completion. The class is offered by the department of criminal justice training. For more information and class availability, call 859-332-7728 or 859-583-5716. Jimmy Elliott is the instructor.

Blood Drive

There will be a Red Cross blood drive on Sunday, Nov. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Dominic School, 309 West Main Street, Springfield.

Thursday, Nov. 29
Craft Lessons

The Washington County Library will be holding craft classes for tweens (9-14 years old) and adults on Thursday, Nov. 29. Tweens will meet from 3:30-5 p.m. and will be making snowflake ornaments. Adults will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. and will be making a Christmas paper tree. All must register at the front desk and classes are free. Call 336-7655 for more information.

Dance and Auction

The Washington County Association for the Mentally Handicap annual dance and auction will be held Saturday, Dec. 1, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Springfield. Music by the Moonshine Millionaires. Doors open at 7 p.m. All proceeds go to WC Association for the Mentally Handicap. Mid-Kentucky Chorus

The Mid-Kentucky Chorus annual Christmas concert, The Beautiful Music of Christmas, will be held in Springfield on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. in St. Catharine Hall at St. Catharine College.

Saturday, Dec. 8
Breakfast with Santa

Breakfast with Santa will be Saturday, Dec. 8 in the high school gym from 9 a.m.-noon. Doughnuts, milk and juice are free. Pictures with Santa will be available. Participants can be purchase tickets to play games, make Christmas ornaments, etc. Proceeds will benefit WCHS boys’ basketball.

Basketball Tournament

The first 3-on-3 Commander basketball tournament will be held Saturday, Dec. 15. Call Coach Russell Burkhead for details at 481-3308. Proceeds will benefit WCHS boys’ basketball.
Saturday, Dec. 18
BHS Placement Test

Bethlehem High School will hold its high school placement test on Saturday, Dec. 18, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Students should bring two sharpened No. 2 pencils. No calculators are needed. Questions should be directed to  Julie Downs, Director of Admissions, at 502-348-8594, ext. 213.

BHS Yearbook Signing
