Harvest for the Hungry
The holiday season is a time of financial hardships for many Kentucky families. Your food bank needs your help! Start collecting non-perishable food items now through Dec. 15. Your food donations will help those who may otherwise go without. Participate by calling (270) 735-1407.

Santa letters
The deadline to submit Santa Letters to The Springfield Sun is 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6. Photos may be submitted with letters. Make sure to include your name, age and address. Age limit for letters is 11 years old. The letters will be judged with first place winner receiving $15, second place will receive $10 and third will receive $5. The letters will appear in the Santa Section on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Send your letters and photos in a sealed envelope to The Springfield Sun, P.O. Box 31, Springfield, KY 40069 or bring to 108 Progress Avenue, Springfield. If you have any questions, call (859) 336-3716. Photos may be picked up at the office after the section is printed.

Thanksgiving Closing

The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25 for Thanksgiving.

WC County Clerk
The county clerk’s office will be closed Thursday, Nov 24 and Friday, Nov.25 for Thanksgiving.

Saturday, Nov. 26

WC Holiday Assistance Program Roadblock

A roadblock will take place at the intersection of Hwy 150 & Hwy 555 by Hardees in Springfield on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All donations will go towards purchasing items for the children’s holiday wishes.

Concealed Carry Class
A concealed carry class will be Saturday, Nov. 26 at 9 a.m. until completion. The class is offered by the Dept. of Criminal Justice training. For more information call 859-332-7728 or cell 859-583-5716. Jimmy Elliott is the instructor.

Gospel Sing
There will be a gospel sing at Cumbo’s Old Gospel Barn, 11286 Louisville Road, Cox’s Creek at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26. Music by The Blessed Duo, Silas Eisenback and The Cumbos. Free admission. Everyone is welcome.

Monday, Nov. 28

Tuesday, Nov. 29

SCC Class
St. Catharine College Continuing and Community Education program will present a class on making gingerbread houses. Learn how to bake, assemble and decorate your own gingerbread house for the holiday season. This 3-session class will be on Tuesday evenings beginning Nov. 29 at St. Catharine College. Dec. 2, 3 and 4

Christmas Concert
Mid-Kentucky Chorus annual Christmas concert, The Beautiful Music of Christmas will be held in Springfield Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. in St. Catharine Hall at St. Catharine College. With beautiful arrangements of traditional choral pieces enhanced with professional musicians and soloists, the entire concert is spectacular, up-lifting and joyous. Other performances of this concert will be in Bardstown Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday evening, Dec. 4 in Lebanon at St. Augustine Church at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating is available.
