The deadline to submit Santa Letters to The Springfield Sun is 3 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 3. Photos may be submitted with letters. Make sure to include your name, age and address. Age limit for letters is 11 years old. The letters will be judged with first place winner receiving $15, second place will receive $10 and third will receive $5. The letters will appear in the Santa Section on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and on news stands Dec. 24.

Send your letters and photos in a sealed envelope to The Springfield Sun, 108 Progress Ave., Springfield, Ky. 40069 or you may hand deliver them to the address above. We promise to get them to Santa.

Volunteers Needed

Fiscal Court Meeting Date Change
The Washington County Fiscal Court will be meeting on Friday, Nov. 8 instead of Monday, Nov. 11.  The time and place of the meeting has not changed.

Feast for Kids Fest

The Redemption Point Church of God will be having a Feast for Kid Fest on Nov. 9 from 4-7 p.m.  They will be serving a turkey dinner with all the fixin’s.  The church is located on Hwy 55, 3 miles on the left from the intersection of 150 and Hwy 55.  Please call Marlene Hardin at 502-827-1237 for more information.

Ky Public Retirees Lincoln Trail Chapter
The full LTADD Board of Directors will not be meeting in November.  Only the executive committee will meet.  We will be in touch with details concerning the next board meeting at the beginning of December.

Washington County Historical Society

The Washington County Historical Society will host the Kentucky Chautauqua performance with Mel Hankla as Simon Kenton on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Springfield Presbyterian Church.

Affordable Care Act Assistance
Kynector, Myra Howard will have an open session for the community to ask individual questions, specific or general about the Affordable Care Act, and to arrange appointments if one-on-one help is needed.  The session will be held on Nov. 13 at the Washington County Public Library from 10 a.m.-noon.  Library programs are free and open to the public.  For more information, call 336-7655.

Tasting Bash

The My New Kentucky Home Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity in Washington County is sponsoring a “Tasting Bash”, Thursday, Nov. 14 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the old Louisville Store, 101 Main Street, in Springfield.  Tickets can be purchased prior to the event at the following businesses: BB&T, State Bank, Mordecai’s or any board member.  They can also be purchased at the door that evening.  The proceeds will help a needy family obtain an affordable low- income home in Washington County.  Contact Sister Charlene Vogel at 336-9303 for more information.

Knights of Columbus Fish Fry
The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a fish fry Nov. 15, 4 p.m., at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2013 Bardstown Rd., Springfield.  The fish fry will be dine in or drive through.  The menu includes fish (Alaskan Pollock), cornbread, hush puppies, slaw, bean soup and potato wedges. Contemplative Prayer Day
