Thursday, Dec. 6
Craft Lessons


The Washington County Library will be holding craft classes for tweens (9-14 years old) and adults on Thursday, Dec. 6. Tweens will meet from 3:30-5 p.m. and will be making reindeer ornaments. Adults will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. and will be making a Christmas centerpiece. All must register at the front desk and classes are free. Call 336-7655 for more information.

Saturday, Dec. 8
Christmas in Mackville

The Christmas in Mackville show will be held at the Mackville Community Center on Saturday, Dec. 8. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with Allison Durham Speer performing at 7 p.m. Country ham dinner will be served from 5:30-7 p.m. Tickets are available at BB&T Bank, Springfield State Bank and branches, Nally’s Cellular and The Harrodsburg Herald. Breakfast with Santa
Breakfast with Santa will be Saturday, Dec. 8 in the high school gym from 9 a.m.-noon. Doughnuts, milk and juice are free. Pictures with Santa will be available. Participants can purchase tickets to play games, make Christmas ornaments, etc. Proceeds will benefit WCHS boys’ basketball.

BHS Placement Test
Bethlehem High School will hold its high school placement test on Saturday, Dec. 8, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Students should bring two sharpened No. 2 pencils. No calculators are needed. Questions should be directed to  Julie Downs, director of admissions, at 502-348-8594, ext. 213.

Christmas at Campground Church

The Christmas at Campground Church service in Bloomfield  will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend the celebration of our holiday season.

Monday, Dec. 10
Blood Drive

The regular visit of the American Red Cross Blood Mobile will be held in the Family Activity Center at the Springfield Baptist Church on Monday, Dec. 10, from noon until 5 pm.
Blood supplies are low because many blood drives could not be held due to Hurricane Sandy that hit the East Coast recently. A pint of blood could be the best and least expensive Christmas gift you could give this season.

Saturday, Dec. 15
Basketball Tournament

The first 3-on-3 Commander Basketball Tournament will be held Saturday, Dec. 15. Call Coach Russell Burkhead for details at 481-3308. Proceeds will benefit WCHS boys’ basketball.

Contemplative Prayer Day
St. Catharine Motherhouse is hosting its monthly Contemplative Prayer Day on Dec. 15 at 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The day will focus on Advent Taize Prayer, led by Myrna Page, and will include silence, reflection, chants,  advent readings with silent reflection and a closing tea meditation and blessing. Parkinson’s Support Group

The Parkinson’s support group Christmas social will be lunch at BJ’s Steakhouse in Bardstown on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. BJ’s is at 201 Camptown Road, off of Bloomfield Road behind Kentucky Home Bank. Call Jane Swarts at 502-350-4458 with questions.

BHS Yearbook Signing
