Al-Anon

When you don’t know where to turn because someone drinks too much, Al-Anon Family Groups can help. Meetings in St. Dominic Church basement on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Airport board

The Marion Washington County Airport Board will not have a meeting in December. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 12, 2012.

Water Commission Meeting

The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the water office. The meeting will begin at 5 p.m.

Fishing for a Cure
The “Fishing for a Cure” bake sale will be at IGA on Saturday, Dec. 17, 8 a.m. to ? All proceeds go to Relay for Life.


Sunday, Dec. 18

Christmas Play and Live Nativity
The Willisburg Church of God of Prophecy on Brush Grove Road will be having a church Christmas play entitled “The Stranger Who Came for Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 6 p.m., refreshments to follow the program, and a live Nativity Scene (including animals) on Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Children’s Musical Program

The Springfield United Methodist Church would like to invite you to celebrate Christmas with a special children’s musical program. The children’s ministry will perform the Christmas classic of “Don’t Be Afraid Brigade”. In this classic children’s musical the angel members of The Don’t Be Afraid Brigade are busy practicing for their big announcement of Jesus’s birth and getting humans to believe and trust in God. Come and enjoy the excitement in the preparation of the announcement of Christ’s birth on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 10:30 a.m.

The Washington County Elementary School Site Based Decision Making meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19 in the Media Center.

Springfield Planning Commission

The Planning Commission will meet in regular session on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall for zoning requests for property proposed to be annexed;  St. Catharine College (2645 Bardstown Road), Residential 1 (R1), Sisters of Peace (2645 Bardstown Road), Residential 1 (R1) and Stewart Scovil Lakeview Landing property (located at 1887 Bardstown Road) as Highway Commercial (HC).
