Mary Ministry
The February meetings for the Mary Ministry are Feb. 13, with a theme about healthy relationships, and at the Feb. 28 meeting.  There will be guest speakers answering questions about legal issues and concerns of single mothers.  Meetings start at 6 p.m. in the Wesley Family Life Center located on Main Street to the left of the Springfield United Methodist Church.  Every meeting begins with a meal and finishes with a workshop dealing with different issues facing today’s single mothers.  Childcare is provided, and the meeting is open to all single mothers at no cost.  Please call Teresa Miller at 859-805-0757 for more information.

WCHS Baseball Boosters
Washington County High School Baseball Boosters will have a chili supper/silent auction on Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. during the WC basketball senior night at the high school cafeteria. Parkinson’s Support Group-Bardstown
A presentation on Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) will be presented at the Parkinson’s Support Group meeting on Feb. 19 at the Nelson County Public Library Community Room at 1 p.m.  DBS is currently the top treatment for Parkinson’s and other movement disorders.  Fortunately we will have an additional speaker from the University of Kentucky who can discuss newer therapies with potential to slow or stop the progression of movement disorders. New Pioneers for a Sustainable Future will host its annual “Empty Bowl Supper” at the home of Ed and Kris O’Daniel in Springfield from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Select a handmade ceramic bowl, make a donation and then enjoy eating homemade soup and other goodies with old friends and new.  Please call 859-336-5070 for further information.

Pancake Breakfast

Gospel Sing
Cumbo’s Old Gospel Barn, 11286 Louisville Rd., Cox’s Creek, will be having a Gospel sing on Feb. 22, 7:30 p.m., with music by Blessed Hope and the Cumbo’s.  Free admission and everyone is welcome.

Moving Forward Forum

New Pioneers for a Sustainable Future will host the rescheduled ninth Moving Forward Forum at the Springfield campus of ECTC from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.  Panelists addressing the theme “This Place We Call Home: Land, Food and Health for the Future” will be Martha Young of East Texas, Laura Riccardi of Marion County and Fox Hollow Farm, and Daniel Barber, RN, of Valley Hill.  Admission is free and the public is warmly invited.

Brazilian Jazz in the Bluegrass
Mid-Kentucky Arts’ next program  “Brazilian Jazz in the Bluegrass!” will be held on Saturday, March 1. New Pioneers Spring Member Meeting and Dessert Potluck will take place at the Springfield Opera House from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Bring your favorite dessert, meet other folks who share your interests, and enjoy guest speaker Mary Berry of the Berry Center in Henry County.  Mary is the daughter of farmer and author Wendell Berry and creator of the Berry Farming program at St. Catharine College. Yard Sale and Benefit Auction
There will be a yard sale and benefit auction at Samuels Hall at Nelson County Fairgrounds on March 29 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Doors will re-open at 4:30 p.m. and the auction will begin at 6 p.m.  A live D.J. will immediately follow until midnight.  Food and drinks will be sold.  All proceeds will benefit Hearts for Haley.  Please call Melissa Bartley at 859-805-2168 for more information or to donate.

10K Run
McDowell Wellness Center will be hosting its Eleventh Annual 10K run on May 17.  The race begins at 8 a.m. at McDowell Wellness Center, located at 1107 Ben Ali Drive in Danville.  Registration forms are available at McDowell Wellness Center.  There is a registration fee and all entrants will receive a T-shirt.  Please call 859-936-9355 for more information.
