Washington County Summer Feeding Program
The Washington County Board of Education is participating in the Summer Food Service Program from June 9, 2014 - Aug. 1, 2014. Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Hot lunch meals will be provided at the site and time listed below:
Washington County High School
Breakfast-8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
Lunch-11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Springfield Housing Authority
Lunch, noon-12:30 p.m.
Any child that has not reached their 19th birthday is eligible for a meal. Meals can be provided to many groups throughout the county. Bible Schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Church Groups, etc. should call Washington County Board of Education at 336-5470 and speak to Regina Hood for more information.
Parkinson’s Support Group-Bardstown
The meetings in July and August will be social gatherings at restaurants in the area held on the third Wed of the month at 1 p.m.
July’s meeting will be at Susie Q’s in Bardstown, and the August meeting will be at BJ’s in Bardstown.
Meetings are open to all touched by Parkinson’s including patient, caregiver, family and friends.

Thursday, July 17
Free seminar for first-semester college students
St. Catharine College will host a free workshop for any first-semester college student from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on July 17 in Pettus Auditorium (located inside the Richard S. Hamilton Health and Sciences Building).
The workshop will cover information that will help new college student’s transition into higher education. Topics include time management, collegiate study skills, making college life fit your life, choosing a degree program and thriving at college.
The workshop will conclude will a question and answer session with current college students who will share their tips for college success and their experiences as new college students.
Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Richard S. Hamilton Health and Sciences Building lobby. For more information, contact Dr. David Donathan at email@example.com.

Alan Ohkubo, cellist, and Joseph Ohkubo, violinist will play at Loretto Motherhouse Saturday, July 19, at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
Works to be played are Suite No.4 in E-flat Major for Unaccompanied Cello by Johann Sebastian Bach, Recitativo and Scherzo-Caprice, Op.6 by Fritz Kreisler for solo violin, and Duo for Violin & Cello, Op.7 by Zoltán Kodály.

The Manual Sr. and Della Blandford Smith family reunion will be held on Sunday, July 20 at noon at the park in Fredericktown. A potluck lunch will be served.

Board of Trustees Meeting

Willisburg Baptist Church, 5599 Hwy. 433, will be holding Vacation Bible School July 21-25 from 6-8:30 p.m. All children preschool-6th grade are invited to attend. This year’s theme is LifeWay’s Agency D3. Any child that may need transportation please call Bro. Jay Hatfield at 859-336-4402.

Kindergarten Open House
Washington County Elementary School will be hosting kindergarten open house on Thursday, July 24 at 5:30 p.m. Parents and kindergarten students are encouraged to arrive promptly at 5:30. A short presentation will begin at 5:35 p.m. in the school commons. School supplies may be brought at this time.

The 39th annual reunion of the descendants of Jacob and Eleanor (Neley) Silvertooth Cocanougher (early pioneers of current Boyle and Washington counties) will be held at the American Legion Hall on West US 150 in Perryville on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Potluck lunch will be served about 1 p.m. Please bring family, friends, food, photos, family tree info, family artifacts, stories and a smile. A collection will be taken to pay for the rent of the hall and for the upkeep of the Cocanougher Cemetary on Long Run Road in Washington County. Manton Music Jamboree will be held Sunday, July 27, from noon until dusk, under the big shade trees on the church grounds at Holy Rosary Church, Manton. Food and Refreshments will be available

New Hope Baptist Church will host a Mid-Summer Revival July 27-31. There will be a different pastor and music group each night. Services will be Sunday night, 6 p.m. Monday – Thursday nights, 7 p.m.

July 31-Aug. 1
Washington County High School will have class registration for the 2014-15 school year on Thursday, July 31 for seniors from 9 a.m.- noon and juniors from 1 - 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1 the times are sophomores from 9 a.m.- noon and freshmen from 1 - 4 p.m. Please be prepared to pay class fees, locker fees, AP fees and college course/dual credit fees at this time. Also underclassmen school pictures will be taken at this time and are available for purchase. Registration paperwork will also be completed on this date. Any new high school student entering the Washington County School District this school year should contact the guidance office at 859-366-5475 to schedule an appointment for new student registration.

Back to School Bash
Cornerstone Christian Church will host a Back-to-School Bash on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, 2-4 p.m. 805 Bardstown Rd. Suite 17 (next to Save-a-Lot).
Free packed back packs with school supplies for the first 250 kids grades K-5.
There will be free drinks, snacks and games for the whole family.
