Springfield United Methodist Church will be hosting a free community meal at the Wesley Center located at 301 East Main St. in Springfield at 5:30 p.m. This meal is for anyone looking to have a wholesome hot meal with old & new friends as well as providing a greater connection to our neighborhood, our town, and our Washington County Community.
Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) will host a town hall in Washington County on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Catharine College’s Hamilton Building located at 2735 Bardstown Road. The town hall will be open to both the general public and the media.
On Wednesday, Aug. 27, the VFW Post 5910 in Lebanon will host a free meal from 6-9 p.m. This meal is sponsored by Tucker Hill Baptist Church. The public is invited.

Camp Horsin’ Around
On Aug. 29 at 10:30 a.m. Camp Horsin’ Around, 1159 Claunch Road, Perryville, Ky., will be inaugurating a swinging bridge which is accessible for all campers. The bridge connects the main camping area to the Chaplin River activity area. The bridge has been designed and built by S.T.E.P.S of Ann Arbor, Mich. The funds for the bridge were donated by The Daniel Pitino Foundation, Inc. and the Inter County Energy Cooperative of Danville.
Saturday, Aug. 30
There will be a benefit 4-Wheeler ride on Saturday, Aug. 30 beginning at noon. All proceeds go to the burial expense of James ‘Buddy’ Sparrow. Call Janet Sparrow for information at (859) 805-0393.
Sunday, Aug. 31
The annual Warner-Wohner family reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 31 at the Lincoln Homestead State Park clubhouse. Each family is asked to bring food, drinks and utensils for the potluck mean that will be served at noon.
The annual Stumph reunion will be held on Aug. 31 at the Mackville Community Center. Basket lunch will be served at approximately 12:30 p.m. Please bring an item for the auction. Proceeds from the auction will be used for upkeep of the Hall Cemetery and expenses for the reunion. Hope to see you there.
Nicole Casteel will sing and Denine LeBlanc will play piano in a performance at Loretto Motherhouse, Sunday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m.

Beech Grove Baptist Church will host a 5th Sunday hymn singing Sunday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m.

Lions Club Collection
The Willisburg Lions Club will be doing a door-to-door collection for the street lights for Willisburg on Sept. 1, from 5-6:30 p.m.

Four Dragons Classes Begin
Four Dragons Mixed Martial Art classes to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Special Needs class is Mondays 5:30 to 6:15p.m.
Lil Dragons child classes are 5 p.m. to 5:55 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Regular Classes are 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Sept. 5, 12, 19
The Washington County and North Washington FRYSCs will be hosting Cradle School on Sept. 5, 12 and 19 from 10 – 11:30 a.m. in the childcare room behind the Washington County High School, Lincoln Park Road location. Cradle School is a program for children ages 2 and 3 years old and their parents. Participants will experience educational activities including lessons on language, science, social skills, music, story time, center activities, outdoor play and snack time. Azheimer’s Benefit Trail Ride
Registration at 10 a.m., with ride beginning at approximately 11 a.m. from Howard Wohner’s, 6026 Deep Creek Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
Signs will be posted to accommodate trailer parking.
Teams and Wagons welcomed.
All proceeds will be turned in at the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk in Lexington on Sept. 27.

Monday, Sept. 8
Kentucky Public Retirees meeting
Kentucky Public Retirees, Lincoln Trail Chapter, will hold its monthly meeting Monday, Sept. 8 at Ryan’s Family Steak House in Elizabethtown. Ryan’s is located at 1034 Executive Drive. Meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch.
J. J. Duvall, Mayor of Radcliff and candidate for Hardin County Judge Executive is tentatively scheduled to speak.
Sept. 12 and 13
Mackville Harvest Homecoming Festival expands to two days this year. It kicks off at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 with food vendors, games, music and more. On Saturday, Sept. 13 they kick off the day with breakfast followed by a 5k, and more games and music. There are several new events added this year.
Sunday, Sept. 14
Willisburg Church of God homecoming is set for Sept. 14 at 10:30 a.m. The speaker will be Rev. Terry Burkhead.
Pastor Mark Speakman and the congregation extend a warm welcome to the public to attend. A dinner will follow in church pavillion.
Kentucky Bourbon Festival
Music on the Lawn shows are held on the Bardstown City Hall lawn grounds located on Xavier Drive in Bardstown beginning at 5p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19-20 and 1 p.m. on Sunday September 21. All of the shows are free.
