A new face will soon appear on the pages of The Springfield Sun as Lebanon native Jesse Osbourne joins the staff as the paper’s new sports and news writer and photographer.
Osbourne, 28, is a 2006 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor of arts degree in photojournalism and a minor in English.
Most recently, he has served as sports writer and photographer for The Lebanon Enterprise in Marion County since October 2008. Prior to returning to Lebanon, Osbourne spent time working at Highlands Today in Sebring, Fla., as well as The Danville Advocate-Messenger in Danville, Ky.
Osbourne’s work has earned him several awards from the Kentucky Press Association and other organizations, including some within the parent company of both the Springfield and Lebanon newspapers, Landmark Community Newspapers, Inc.
“We look forward to Jesse joining our staff here at The Springfield Sun,” said editor and general manager Jeff Moreland. “His work is impressive, and he is an energetic person who will be active in covering all aspects of the community through news and sports. Jesse will definitely be an asset to The Sun and our readers.”
Osbourne will begin work following the Thanksgiving holiday, and he said he is ready to learn more about Washington County and its people.
“I’m very excited to join The Springfield Sun staff,” Osbourne said. “I’m even more excited to get to know the people of Washington County and tell their stories the best way I know how.”
