Since 1960 the Kentucky Young Farmer Association has recognized its most outstanding member, based on their farming operation, record keeping system, development and improvement of the farming operation and the home, leadership activities and participation in the YFA. It is the highest honor awarded each year by the organization.
This year’s contest is sponsored by Farm Credit Services, Whayne Supply Caterpillar Challenger and the Kentucky Touchstone Energy Cooperatives.
The winner of the 2011 Member of the Year Contest is James Osbourne of the Washington County Chapter in the Lincoln Trail Region.
Osbourne has been very active in YFA. He has participated in contests on the local, regional and state levels. He has been named the State Winner of several production proficiency contests. He is also active in various community and agricultural organizations.

State “runners-up” are: Chad Konow – Franklin Simpson and Jonathan Moss – Christian County Chapter.
