Jodie Klein will come to St. Catharine College in the fall to play the libero position in volleyball. That tags her as a defensive specialist, which she showed a great propensity for last year as a freshman at Murray State University. But that is not the only skill she will bring to Jason McDannold’s Patriots for the 2013 season.
Klein was second on the Racers’ team last year in sets played. She was third on the team in digs with 227, and also third in service aces with 14.
“We are fortunate to have Jodie joining our program,” said McDannold, who will be in his first season as head coach. “Her experience at the D-I level will be a big help for her and our entire team.”
Klein is a 2012 graduate of Louisville DuPont Manual High School, where she played varsity volleyball for four years. She led the Crimsons to four consecutive Jefferson County Public School championships. She was named to the JCPS all-tournament team in 2008 and 2009, the district all-tournament team in 2010 and the regional all-tournament team in 2011. In 2011 she was named the MVP at Manual.
In addition to her volleyball skills, Klein excelled in the classroom. She earned first-team academic all-state honors in 2010 and 2011 and is a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club.
