Still looking for that elusive first victory, the St. Catharine College Patriots fell to 0-7 with two losses on the road last week. Wednesday at Alice Lloyd J.T. Burton’s team fell 80-76 in overtime. On Saturday they were defeated 81-71 at Berea.
The Patriots will have plenty of opportunities to pick up some victories with a busy schedule this week. On Monday they played at the University of Northwestern Ohio and Tuesday they were at Wright State-Lake. On Friday they take on In the Spalding University Thanksgiving Classic in Louisville. Saturday they visit D-I Murray State for an exhibition game and Sunday the return to the Spalding University Classic to play the host team.
The Patriots missed their best opportunity for their initial victory at Alice Lloyd when Arthur Latham missed a dunk at the buzzer in regulation that would have provided the win. Alice Lloyd then went on to win 80-76 in overtime. Latham led the patriots in the game with 19 points. Kevin Owens had 14 and Brandon Johnson 10.
In Saturday’s loss at Berea only four players were in the scoring column as St. Catharine fell 81-71. Johnson had 27 points while Latham added 26. Mutombo Yombo had 11 and Thomas Malone seven. Latham and Yombo each had six blocked shots in the game.
