According to city administrator Laurie Smith, the water main break that occurred on the weekend of the Kentucky Crossroads Harvest Festival, “appears to have been the result of vibration caused when (a) tent was installed for the festival. That vibration apparently caused the integrity of the line to fail.” According to Smith, the city was informed by the tent company, under contract with the Chamber of Commerce, that they had already put their insurance carrier on notice. “The City (Water and Public Works Departments) will be involved in terms of water line repair work, but it may well be the State Transportation Cabinet involved in the Cross Main Street repair, as it is the state who maintains this portion of Hwy. 528.” According to Smith, those details are currently being worked out.
