By The Staff

The stage is set. On Dec. 8, we’ll go to the polls and choose a new state senator to represent the 14th Senatorial district. The Republican party has chosen State Rep. Jimmy Higdon, R-Lebanon, as its candidate for the special election. The Democratic party selected former state representative Jodie Haydon, Bardstown, as its choice.

Both candidates will take place in two debates, one set for Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 7-8:30 p.m., and the other on Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 7-8 p.m.

To help conduct these debates, members of the newspapers in the areas served by the 14th Senatorial district will be on hand to ask questions, and we want to hear from you. E-mail us by replying to this message with questions you would like asked of the candidates, and we will present as many of those as possible during the debates.

The debates can be seen live on PLG-TV in Bardstown, and also on our Web site at www.thespringfieldsun.com. SImply click on the blue button at the top of our Web site to connect to the debates.
