In the November 21, 2012 issue of The Springfield Sun, there was an article, “Edelen finds $2.7 billion ‘ghost government;’ creates online database of taxing districts,” published. The public library is a special taxing district and I am attaching a response from the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives and the Washington County Public Library (published above). I would love to inform the community of the public library’s transparency and accountability. We file extensive reports on all aspects of library operations to Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives, the county clerk and the county judge. We are audited every four years by a highly-qualified CPA, along with our annual budget, which are filed every year with the county clerk and county judge. Our webpage has a listing of our board of trustees and they recieve training each year. Our board meetings are held regularly the third Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington County Public Library.
