Dear Editor,

“A Special Event for Special Needs” was held on November 19, 2011 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Springfield Ky. This event was a poker run, chili and hotdog dinner, auctions and a dance with live band featuring a local teenager “Sticktight”Akins as lead singer.
This event was a fund raiser with all proceeds going to “A Special Place.”
“A Special Place” will be the part of Idle Hour park where the physically or mentally challenged can play. This part of the park will all be hanicap accessible.
We feel very strongly about this cause. Donna has a 13-year-old autisitc son that Michelle helps care for.
If anyone is interested in helping with this cause please contact  aspecialplace2play@yahoo.com or on facebook “ASpecialplace”.

Dear Editor,

Earlier this year, The Herald-Leader newspaper named Springfield as the “Best Little Town to Get Lost In” here in Kentucky. I see why we were named.
I just recently moved “back home” and have been welcomed so kindly that I can’t understand why I moved away! From the water company staff to local businesses and doctor’s office personnel, and even our realtor, Steve Hale!
Not only should you get lost here, you should put roots down and stay. My husband and I are both retired from medical careers and are pleased to find we have excellent, well-trained EMS teams for emergency help. They are led by an old schoolmate and friend, Mark Hale. They need our support so they can “be there” for us.
