Some time between Monday night and early Tuesday morning, May 18, 2010, properties around the High Street and Main Street area were vandalized by three young men. Gold paint was used to write racial slurs on garage doors, signs, a telephone junction box and our truck.
The N word, KKK and Nazi symbol were spray painted in large letters on items throughout town.
Over the past year, several African-American students at Washington County High School were harassed at school when they were called the N word by a student or students. Now the use of racial slurs has gone beyond the home and school and into the streets.
Something needs to be done to educate people, both young and old, about the consequences of racial discrimination.
