Susan B. Hardin executive director for the American Red Cross Heart of Kentucky Chapter is pleased to announce two new board members.  Effective on July 1, 2014, the Heart of Kentucky Chapter has 12 members representing all three counties. During the annual meeting held on June 23 retiring board member Dr. Cristina Patrick was recognized for her six years of service.

Replacing Dr. Patrick will be Kecia Copeland and Erica Barns.  Ms. Kecia Copeland is a U.S. Army Veteran, who utilized Red Cross services when her grandmother passed away. Copeland needed to come home and the American Red Cross was there to help.  Copeland also suffered from a home fire in 2012 and the Red Cross responded in her time of disaster. Copeland resides in Bardstown.

Also joining the board of directors is Erica Barnes. Barnes owns the State Farm Agency in Lebanon, Kentucky.  She has already been very active with the American Red Cross by sponsoring both a fundraising event, a Ladies Luncheon held at Maker’s Mark Distillery, and hosting a blood drive.

All board members serve a three-year term.  The primary responsibility of the board of directors is to represent the American Red Cross within the community.   For more information, please contact Susan B. Hardin, Chapter Executive, American Red Cross, 312 South Third, Bardstown, KY 40004.

The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on donations of time, money and blood to do its work. An average of 91 cents of every dollar given to the Red Cross is invested in helping people in need.
