Gary W. Robinson came to St. Catharine College last week as the Vice President for Finance. For 12 years Robinson had been employed at KI (USA) Corp. in Berea, the last four as President. After leaving there earlier this year he has been a professor of corporate development at Bluegrass Community and Technical College.
“With his background in manufacturing Gary will bring a different perspective here,” said St. Catharine President William D. Huston. “His work with lean manufacturing will be a benefit as well.”
After 28 years in the automobile business, Robinson said he is anxious to work in the academic field. “I really enjoyed teaching the last four months in Lexington,” he said. “I am looking forward to a fresh start in the academic world.”
Robinson added that there are many similarities between the corporate work in which he has been involved and his new position. “The majority of my work has been in the model of lean manufacturing. But you can look at that in academics as well. It is just a way to improve the way things are done, a way to make the job easier for employees.”
Robinson currently is commuting from Berea where he lives with his wife Donna and sons Alex, Jake and Isaac.
