For nearly 50 years, members of the Springfield Rotary Club have been serving up hot pancakes as a fundraiser to help them serve the Washington County community.
The Rotarians host the annual event, which started in 1963, and all proceeds go to the Tom Duncan Reed “Service Above Self” Scholarships, which are awarded to Washington County students who attend any secondary educational institution. Mr. Reed was a long-serving member of Rotary, and served as a two-time district governor and Rotary International board member, which is the highest governing board and highest honor for a Rotarian.
This year’s breakfast will take place Saturday, Feb. 19, from 7 a.m. until noon at the annex of the Springfield Presbyterian Church. Tickets can be purchased from any Rotarian, as well as at the door. Breakfast includes pancakes and sausage, juice, milk, and coffee.
