Shirley Ann Ryan Smith, age 83, formerly of Old E-town Rd., Springfield, died at 5:03 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon. She had been a resident of the Village of Lebanon for the last five years.
Born Dec. 1, 1929 in Jefferson County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph W. and Edith Cecilia Thompson Ryan; her husband, Albert “Snooks” Smith, June 12, 2007; a daughter, Sharon Marie Smith, April 21, 2007; a son, James Daryl Smith; her twin brother, Joseph W. Ryan; and three other brothers, Thomas Roy, Charles Robert and Edward Eugene Ryan; a sister, Edith Cecilia Compton; and a grandson, Brian Thomas Mattingly, May 16, 2000.
She was a former employee of Hanmacher-Vogel in Lebanon, was cook at St. Rose Priory and a lunchroom worker at St. Rose School, a homemaker and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
She is survived by three sons, Larry (Irene) Smith of Highview, Nick (Donna) Smith of Springfield and Craig (Mary) Smith of Lebanon; two daughters, Phyllis (Steve) Harmon of Lebanon and Donna Smith (Ed) Simmons of Springfield; one brother, Jerry Ryan of Mason, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday (today) at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McGrath, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rob, Jamie, Joey and Tony “Frog” Smith, Blake Lankin and Frankie Vize.
