The St. Catharine Athletic Department is pleased to announce the hiring of their new athletic trainer, Brittany Buss MAT, ATC. Brittany comes to the Patriots with wealth of knowledge and experience in multiple sports, including football, baseball, basketball, etc. Earning a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University in exercise ccience and a master’s of athletic training from the University of Findlay in Ohio, the Louisville native looks forward to furthering her career at St. Catharine.

“I know that being at a school with so many athletes will be a challenge, but I feel that it will be a great learning experience and I look forward to a long tenure at the college” Buss said.

Brittany is an employee of the Kentucky Orthopedic Rehab Team, but will spend all of her time at St. Catharine providing medical care and direction for all Patriot athletes. Brittany will have little time to learn the ropes at St. Catharine, for volleyball began practice Aug. 2,  and will have their first scrimmage Aug. 13. “I feel that my experience with multiple teams at a small college like Findlay will help me manage the teams at St. Catharine. You don’t always have to be a Division I institution in order to provide the best experience, and so far I have learned that St. Catharine can give excellent opportunities to their athletes” Buss said.

Buss replaces Justin Farr, who is now the assistant athletic director and sports information director.

When asked about Buss, Farr stated “Brittany will be a great addition; she’s energetic, a hard worker, and willing to learn. All of which are necessary to succeed in a unique setting such as St. Catharine.”

The Patriots will begin their 2013 home schedule with Buss on the sideline Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. when the Volleyball Patriots take on the Eagles of Midway College.
