In a tournament hosted by the University of the Cumberlands last Monday and Tuesday at Crooked Creek Golf Course, the St. Catharine College men’s team finished 16th in the 20 team field. The Patriots had a 36-hole total of 648 (320-328). Malone College won the tournament with a 585 total.

“It was tough conditions with casual water in the fairways and balls that got embedded because it was so wet,” said St. Catharine coach Joan Rizer. “That is not an excuse because everyone had to play in the same conditions. I wasn’t happy with the way we played. Aaron Darby was the only one who played well for us.”

Currently the Patriots are in fourth place among the seven conference schools. The Patriots 72-hole total of 1274 trails first place Cumberlands who has a 1186 total through the first two tournaments. Lindsey Wilson is second place at 1204 followed by Campbellsville in third place with a 1213 total.

The St. Catharine women’s team was scheduled for its first tournament of the spring this week as they played at London Country Club Monday and Tuesday. The men return to action next Monday at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in a tournament hosted by Georgetown College.
