Stroop named to Patriots baseball staff

Patriot mentor Luther Bramblett has named Stephanos Stroop as the new assistant coach. Stroop will be the Pats pitching coach and recruiting coordinator after working with pitchers and cathcers at George Washington University.

“We’re excited to have Stephanos on board,” noted Bramblett.  “He brings great experience and will open doors for our program that we haven’t ventured into.  He’s coached at the NCAA D1 level, played professional baseball and has experience in a MLB front office.  I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Stroop comes to St. Catharine after a two year stint as an assistant at George Washington University in Washington, DC.  While there, he worked with catchers and worked as the pitching coach the second half of last spring.

Prior to GW, Stroop interned in the front office of the Washington Nationals, where he worked in advanced scouting.  

He also helped scout the Ripken League, a collegiate summer league.  
The Nationals won the 2012 National League Eastern Division that summer.

Stroop graduated from Claremont McKenna College in California in 2010 with a degree in economics and history.  

While there, he pitched, played third and was an outfielder.  After graduation, he played two years in the Pecos League with the Coastal Kingfish and the Carlsbad Bats.

After his playing career ended, he coached at his alma mater, Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tenn. in 2011.  

In 2012 he coached at the St. Albans School.

This past summer he coached in the Valley Collegiate League for the Strasburg Express.  

He served as their bench coach and coached third base.  Stropp also has his masters in sports sanagement from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
