Forty Boosters were in attendance to enjoy our annual Thanksgiving Day luncheon of turkey and all the trimmings.
We were pleased to have Patricia Hardin with us as a first-time guest. We also were glad to see Steve Parrott, Lillie Mayes and her daughter, and Nellie Moore and her daughter. It has been some time since they were able to be with us.
A representative from Springfield Nursing and Rehab Center spoke to us concerning the new services provided by their facility. They offer long-term care, diabetes management, rehabilitation service and other medical services.
Bro. Charles Knecht led the devotion and reminded us that we should exercise our faith so that others might know that He is the living God.
Those remembered with illness and other issues this week were Hope Haydon, Marty Hatchett, June Shewmaker, Shirley Gunther, Jane Coulter, Brenda Stevens, Patricia Hardin and Dot Davis.
We extended our sympathy to the families of Buster Mann, Dalman Pinkston and Una L. Graham.
Beverly Knecht read a short story to us about a little boy who went to church one Sunday. As the pastor was preaching, he kept looking at a bulletin board that contained several names with a date and a flag beside each name. After the service, he asked the pastor what the board meant. The pastor told him that they were men and women who died in the service. The little boy immediately asked the pastor, “Was it the 9:45 or the 11:15 service?”
There will be no Boosters next week due to Thanksgiving and the Boosters wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
