Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is continuing to build its promising soccer programs for the 2013-2014 academic year. The ECTC Barons were competitive in men’s soccer last year, winning against such strong teams as Bellarmine, Campbellsville JV, Lindsey Wilson JV, and Southern State Community College (OH). Led by head coach Alex Molina, they are hoping to build on a very successful first year, with games starting in mid-August. The women’s soccer team, with returning head coach Andre Cooper, will start games in early September.
Any graduating seniors, current ECTC students or other prospective students who want to play soccer are encouraged to attend tryouts in early June. Men’s tryouts began yesterday and will conclude tomorrow at Carroll Soccer Complex in Peterson Drive in Elizabethtown from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Tryouts for women’s soccer is June 17 at Carroll Soccer Complex from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The college will continue to compete as a “club team,” which gives the athletes the opportunity to play against strong competition.
“As a community and technical college, ECTC is providing student athletes an opportunity to continue to play the sport they love, and one to which they have devoted a tremendous amount of time and effort,” said Dr. Dale Buckles, Chief Student Affairs Officer. “We are building and sponsoring serious and competitive teams using primarily local student athletes.”
ECTC sports provide an opportunity for student athletes to enhance and enlist their athletic and intellectual skills through teamwork, sportsmanship, and competition and to provide educational and life-enriching experiences to student athletes.
More information will be available at a later date regarding tryouts for basketball or other sports. Anyone interested in ECTC sports who cannot attend tryouts should contact Dr. Dale Buckles at email@example.com or 270-706-8431.
