UK fires Billy Gillispie

The University of Kentucky has announced that men's basketball coach Billy Gillispie has been fired, according to reports by the Lexington Herald-Leader and ESPN. A news conference is set for 4:30 p.m. today.

The news comes after Gillispie posted a 40-27 record in two years at UK, including a 22-14 slate this season as the Wildcats missed the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1991 while on probation following the tenure of former coach Eddie Sutton.
