In its first-ever Mid-South Conference volleyball tournament the St. Catharine College team had a short stay. But the Patriots did not go down without a fight as they fell 3-0 to Campbellsville last Tuesday at the Frankfort Convention Center.

“I couldn’t be more proud of these players,” said St. Catharine athletic director Mike Doig, who served as interim coach. “They were able to stay focused through some difficult situations to put together a decent season.”

The season could have been extended somewhat as the seventh-seeded Patriots, who finished at 13-34, battled the second-seeded Campbellsville Tigers in the tournament opener. After dropping the first two games 25-13, 25-17, the Patriots led the third game 24-21. But they never could get the decisive point as Campbellsville eventually won 30-28.

Campbellsville, 30-13, advanced all the way to the tournament final where they lost 3-0 to Georgetown.

Monday night at the conference banquet, players were honored for regular-season achievements. Mandy Gray and Lauren Bowling were named All-Conference honorable mention. Those making the All-Conference academic team, for achieving a 3.2 or better GPA, were Sam Gehler, Taylor Childress, Adair Woford, Mandy Gray, Jordan Boyle and Brittini Schmidt.
