The Washington County Commanders closed out the regular season with an 11-1 thumping of Adair County last Thursday.

Before that, they fell 5-4 to Campbellsville on May 12. But that’s the way the season has rolled along for the Commanders.

WC finishes the regular season at 14-11 overall, with a 4-3 record in district play. That sets them up for a first-round contest against Nelson County on Tuesday. Earlier this month, the Commanders beat the Cards 10-2, the first time the team has been able to beat Nelson County since April 20, 2004.

A win would advance the Commanders in the district and would assure them of a spot in the regional tournament - if only they can beat the Cardinals a second time this year.
